    1. We believe the Scriptures, both  Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of man and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith, life and conduct.  We hold that Scripture needs to be interpreted in light of its original meaning within the context in which it was written.

    2. We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

    3. We believe that Jesus Christ (the Son), without any loss of his eternal, divine attributes, became man, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary.  That he died on the cross, a perfect and complete sacrifice for the sin of all who believe in him, according to the Scriptures.  We believe that he arose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on high, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

    4. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, to convict the world of sin, of righteousness and judgment.  He regenerates sinners when they come to faith in Christ, “baptizing” them into the body of Christ.  He indwells believers, guiding, instructing, filling and empowering  them for Christ-honoring life and service.

    5. We believe that man was directly created by God in his own image, but fell into sin.  The entire human race is therefore, lost and self-condemned to eternal punishment.  Only through faith in Jesus Christ (evidenced by a life that turns from sin and toward God) can salvation and spiritual life be attained.

    6. We believe that the atoning death of Jesus Christ, and his resurrection, provide the only ground of justification and salvation for all who believe.  Jesus Christ is the only Way, Truth and Life.  No one comes to the Father but through him.

    7. We believe in the personal, premillennial return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    8. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting life with the Lord and of the unbeliever to eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire.

    9. We believe that the Church is composed of all those persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united in the Body of Christ.

    10. We believe that baptism and the Lord’s supper are the symbolic representations of spiritual truth.  They do not have sacramental value in any way.  Rather, they are illustrations of the believer’s formal identification with Christ and his Body, the Church.  We believe that immersion best illustrates our inclusion into the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, and is therefore the best mode of Baptism.  Extenuating circumstances will be considered in regard to mode.  We do not practice infant baptism, seeing no Biblical rationale for it.

    11. We believe that the above truths need to be lived out in the following manner:

Having been born again into the body of Christ and having joined this local church we joyfully covenant together:

    • to build up the body of Christ by loving God supremely and to love and serve each other.
    • to promote unity, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control within this body and in the world.
    • to claim no righteousness other than the righteousness of Christ through faith.
    • to strive to know Him and His resurrection power.
    •  to display a heart of compassion and forbearance as we teach and encourage each other.
    • to walk by faith more than by sight.
    • to contribute to the needs of the saints.
    • to be ambassadors for Christ in the world.
    • to intentionally seek to be pleasing to Him in all our conduct.

The following is not a part of our doctrinal statement:

    Being Baptist:

Officially, we are the Calvary Memorial Baptist Church, but have chosen to be known simply as the “Calvary Church” due to what we perceive as a lack of understanding of what “Baptist” means within our western culture. The Westburo Baptist Church, for example, is a very bad measure of what “Baptist” means and we do not to be associated with them in the least.

If you click on “Being Baptist”, above, you will be taken to a Wikipedia article that is a decent explanation of the history and identity of Baptists.

We see evolutionary theory/philosophy as being in gross contradiction with Christianity on many levels.  We do not accept the scientific validity of this understanding of the universe nor its logical implications.  I have attached a three part powerpoint critique of the Theory.  (The file is too large to download, so it has been broken down into three parts.)
